Attendance
Attendance
We are here to partner with you in helping your student be successful at Cypress Park High School. Regular attendance and arriving to class on time are important parts of student success.
Our goal is to maintain an accurate attendance record for every student in accordance with the attendance requirements of the State of Texas. Attendance Matters! We encourage families to make attendance a priority and to communicate with our Attendance Office whenever a student is absent or needs to leave campus early.

Late Arrival & Early Release
Students arriving late to campus during the instructional day must report to the Attendance Office to check in.
Students may not leave campus during instructional time without proper documentation and verification from a parent or guardian.
Please note that individuals listed as emergency contacts are not automatically authorized to check a student out of school. A parent or guardian must provide the appropriate authorization in accordance with campus procedures.
Early Release Procedures
To help make the early release process as smooth as possible, parents/guardians should submit an Early Release Request according to campus procedures.
Early release requests should include:
- Student's full name
- Grade level
- Student ID number, if available
- Date of early release
- Reason for early release
- Requested release time
- Parent/guardian phone number
- Required identification or documentation
- Parent/guardian signature
Parents/guardians may also submit early release documentation through the methods accepted by the Cypress Park Attendance Office.
Students should follow campus procedures to obtain and provide any required early release documentation to their teacher.
Early Checkout
Our instructional day ends at 2:35. Families are encouraged to plan appointments and early checkouts whenever possible to minimize missed instructional time.
Absences & Doctor's Notes
If your student will be absent, please notify the Cypress Park Attendance Office as soon as possible and follow the district's procedures for submitting documentation.
Doctor's notes and other required documentation should be submitted to attendance.
Tardy & Absent Codes
Students are considered tardy if they are not in their assigned classroom when the bell rings to begin the class period.
Students who arrive 10 minutes or more after the beginning of a class period may be recorded as absent in accordance with district attendance procedures.
Students and families are responsible for monitoring attendance and addressing any questions regarding attendance records.
For questions regarding a specific class period, tardy, or attendance code, please contact the student's teacher or the Attendance Office.
Attendance Matters!
Every class period counts. Regular attendance helps students stay connected, keep up with instruction, and make the most of their Cypress Park experience.
Rise Up. Take Courage. Do It.
